The Simpsons veteran music editor has sadly passed away aged 64 - after dedicating 33 years of his love to the beloved animated series.

Chris Ledesma worked on the popular show from its creation in 1989 up until 2022, where he has touched many viewers' lives without many of them even realizing it.

The Simpsons is one of the most popular animated television series of all time, with the show further cementing its legacy on the big screen with The Simpsons Movie in 2007.

It follows the family of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie as they tackle the wacky world of Springfield, with each episode throwing up new hilarious circumstances for them to overcome.

Music plays a big part in the show - and Chris Ledesma was instrumental in bringing the series to life with his skills as a music editor.

Ledesma sadly passed away aged 64 with a touching tribute in the latest episode of the show with a title card that reads: "In loving memory of Chris Ledesma."

An animated depiction of the music editor can also be seen sitting next to the Simpsons family holding up a conductor's baton as the children played instruments.

Matthew Schofield, an editor on The Simpsons, said via Twitter: "I was shocked and saddened to learn of Chris Ledesma's recent passing. He very kindly arranged for me to sit in on the scoring session for my episode 'Black Eyed, Please' (he's in the red shirt, that's me on the right).

"A wonderful guy who genuinely loved his job. RIP Chris."

Jake Schaefer, another music editor on the Simpsons, wrote: "Chris Ledesma’s passion for music and for @TheSimpsons was an inspiration. I’m grateful for the time I got to spend with him this year. He was a great mentor and a genuine person. My heart goes out to his family. Rest In Peace Chris."

Executive producer Matt Selman also paid tribute to his friend and colleague, writing: "Chris Ledesma was a sweet, goofy guy with a giant heart — his amazing musical life is played out over 33 years of @TheSimpsons."

Ledesma's legacy will live on through his work which can be heard whenever watching an episode of The Simpsons.
