There's something uniquely thrilling about going to see a live sports event. Sure, it's fun to kick back with a beer and watch a football game with some friends at home - but nothing compares to being in the crowd at the Superbowl, or cheering on the tennis stars at Wimbledon, or - if you're lucky enough - catching a foul ball at a baseball game.

Gabby DiMarco, a Padres fan from San Diego, knows exactly what this last thing feels like, as she managed to catch a stray ball on Tuesday night. Well, we say she caught it, but it was her beer that did most of the work.

DiMarco was enjoying the game at Petco Park earlier this week when the Braves batter, Ender Inciarte, hit a foul ball behind him into the stands. The crowd watched with bated breath as it went up and up, then cheered as it came back down and landed - splash - right in DiMarco's drink.

"It bounced from behind me, I wasn't trying to catch it at all, and it landed in my cup," the baseball fan said.

As soon as she realised what had happened, the woman got up and began encouraging cheers from around her. Then, with all cameras focused on her, she downed the entire beverage with the ball still in the cup.

Unfortunately, the Braves ended up beating the Padres by a score of 14 to 1 - but we all know that there was really only one winner that day, and it was DiMarco.
