A Texas football star has spoken out after committing a "disgusting" act in front of President Donald Trump.
Colin Simmons helped the Texas Longhorns beat the Tennessee Volunteers, but one moment during the second quarter quickly became a main talking point on social media.
After sacking Tennessee QB Faizon Brandon for a 16-yard loss, the 20-year-old appeared to simulate using the restroom on the field.
Officers immediately penalized him for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Simmons' celebration drew the attention of ABC broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit, who called it an "absolutely idiotic move" by the athlete. Chris Fowler also described it as "vulgar".
The football star spoke about the move after the game and admitted that he regretted his actions.
"I also do want to say I apologize for the celebration," he told reporters. "I was definitely in that mode, feeling myself. But, you know, it happens. Charge it to the game."
His apology didn't end there, as he later took to X to ask for forgiveness.
"All Glory To God," he penned. "Thank you for listening to my prayers and forgive me for my actions."
Many people took to Simmons' post to share their reactions of support.
One user praised: "Got your back. Thanks for the apology, and thanks for the humility. I’d have had a hard time containing myself after all the trash Tennessee talked all week. Hook’em. God Bless!"
Another penned: "We all make mistakes. Yours happened to be on national tv for the world to see. Learn and grow. May your on-field and off-field lives keep taking you to new heights young fella!"
A third said: "Love the Accountability! All jokes aside, we all make mistakes and this young man will learn from it and keep marking his territory on the field without the pee celebration."
"Hope you're sincere in your apology. Most important, that you learned that behavior like that is pure repulsive and not what a good sport or good man would do. God is always watching, he knows your heart. In this world, you have permanently damaged your reputation," one more added.
Trump attended the game at Neyland Stadium. He was sitting next to Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn.
Spectators had been told there was extra security in the area because of the 80-year-old's arrival.
"President Donald J. Trump is expected to attend Saturday's football game between Tennessee and Texas. Fans should plan to arrive early and expect increased security measures in and around Neyland Stadium," a statement read.
"Ticketed attendees are strongly encouraged to arrive significantly earlier than they would for a typical game. Enhanced security screening will be conducted before entry by the Secret Service Police at all stadium gates. Fans should expect increased wait times as kickoff approaches," they were advised.
