He may have retired from taking on Beasts and Animals and Giants, but The Undertaker is still refusing to back down from any opponent, especially when they get too close to his wife.

Even if the opponent is an actual shark.

The Deadman, real name Mark Calaway, was vacationing with his wife, former WWE Divas Champion Michelle McCool, when he was called for help.

Michelle had been enjoying a book when she realized a shark had begun getting a bit too close for comfort in the water near her feet. And when you're married to The Undertaker, it's probably always a good insurance policy to have him patrol the area in case any toes end up going missing.

Taking to social media to share footage of the incident, Michelle commented, “I was simply enjoying a book on the beach when this ‘vegetation’ looked a lot like a shark….. so I text hubby @undertaker kinda digging that last picture …A LOT #myprotector”.

Check out the video below:

Explaining a bit further what had happened, 43-year-old Michelle said, “OK, I text my husband because… this guy right here. I just knew it was a shark. Look how close we are.”

She goes onto say, “Yep. OK. Guess I wasn’t big enough to scare him away but you are.”

The shark was believed to be a nurse shark, which are completely harmless to humans. However, they're still big enough that if one suddenly began swimming around you, you probably wouldn't want to be hanging around. And if you can call upon The Undertaker to scare it away, all the better.

We are yet to receive word as to whether, off camera, any tombstones or choke slams were delivered to the shark, or whether 'Taker locked it in his Hell's Gate chokehold. What we do know, however, is that we need to see The Deadman come out of retirement for one last match against the shark at next year's WrestleMania. Make it happen, WWE.

Calaway, 58, retired from wrestling in 2020 after a glittering career that spanned more than 30 years. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in his home state of Texas ahead of WrestleMania 38 in April 2022. He was inducted by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

'Taker and Michelle met while both working for WWE and have been married since 2010. Michelle retired from in-ring competition in 2011, having held WWE's Women's Championship twice and the now defunct Divas Title twice. Despite being retired, Michelle has still stepped into the ring a few times over the past 12 years, often making surprise appearances during Royal Rumble matches.
