McDonald's was founded over fifty years ago in 1955, and since that first diner, it has grown into the world's largest restaurant chain, with more than 34,000 restaurants in 119 countries.
However, as we know, different countries and cultures have different tastes - it's what makes food so damn great! Sure, everybody has heard of Big Mac or Chicken McNuggets, but have to ever been lucky enough to taste these local "McDelicacies"?
[post_page_title]Taro Pie - China[/post_page_title]
The taro is a purple tuber vegetable that only grows in the Pacific Islands. Sold in China and other Asian markets, the crust is filled with a concoction similar to chunky mashed potatoes, only it's sweet... And very purple.

[post_page_title]Veg Pizza McPuff - India[/post_page_title]
Due to the fact many religions around the world don't eat beef or pork, Maccy D's had to find another way of filling their menus, and therefore developed their chicken and vegetarian ranges.

[post_page_title]McLobster - Canada[/post_page_title]
Lucky Canadian customers are able to purchase this lobster sub, made with 100 percent North Atlantic lobster, mixed with mayonnaise, and layered on a bed of lettuce in a toasted roll.

[post_page_title]McToast - Italy[/post_page_title]
It's basically an inside-out toasted hamburger bun sandwiching two slices of cheese and some ham. Much lighter than the Sausage & Egg McMuffin.

[post_page_title]Ovomaltine McFlurry - Brazil[/post_page_title]
Also available in some Swedish restaurant chains, Ovomaltine is basically Ovaltine. It really is a delicious combination of malt and chocolate with McDonald's ice cream.

[post_page_title]McCurry Pan - India[/post_page_title]
The McCurry Pan is pretty much a seasoned vegetable and cheese pie served in a taco-like crust pan. Going to McDonald's for one of your five-a-day just seems bizarre.
[post_page_title]McNurnburger - Germany[/post_page_title]
This was McDonald's Germany attempt to capitalize on the regionally popular Nurnberger sausages. A pretty simple burger, three Bratwurst served on a bun with mustard and onions.

[post_page_title]Mashed Potato Burger - China[/post_page_title]
According to McDonald's in China, the way to make burgers manlier is to add mashed potato. With a simple dollop of mashed potato, McDonald's "Beef 2012 Manly Campaign" kicked off. So, so manly.

[post_page_title]Bubblegum-Squash McFlurry - Australia[/post_page_title]
Fortunately, "squash" means marshmallows, not the root vegetable. It may sound like an absolute sugar overload (and it is), but people Down Under have praised this fabulous Flurry.

[post_page_title]Prosperity Burger - Malaysia[/post_page_title]
The Prosperity Burger was originally introduced as a promotional item to "celebrate abundance" during Chinese New Year. The burger features an elongated beef or chicken patty coated in pepper sauce on a sesame seed bun. The chicken patty is topped with shredded lettuce, while the beef patty gets sprinkled with chopped onions.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Spinach And Parmesan Nuggets - Italy[/post_page_title]
I would dunk these nuggets over chicken nuggets any day. One way to make McDonald's healthier is to add spinach (ignoring the cheese and deep fat frying).
[post_page_title]Breaded Emmental Sticks With Lingonberry Jam - Austria[/post_page_title]
It's not uncommon to finish a nice meal with a cheese board and fancy chutneys. So, consider this McDonald's post-burger cheese board.
[post_page_title]McBeer - Europe[/post_page_title]
Seriously. Very few things are more pleasurable than enjoying a burger and beer, although, you'll have to venture to certain European countries to enjoy this ice-cold McBevvie.
[post_page_title]Spam - Hawaii[/post_page_title]
Hawaiians love Spam! Therefore, this is a simple case of supply and demand. If you thought McDonald's meat was dodgy, to begin with, you should probably steer clear of this Hawaiian breakfast; Spam served with rice, eggs and Portuguese sausage.
[post_page_title]McKroket - Netherlands[/post_page_title]
This is one I can praise because I have been lucky enough to order several in my life. In fact, I once devoured three in one sitting. The Dutch kroket is pretty much breaded beef stew, and McDonald's were ingenious enough to turn this into a burger.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Bacon Potato Pie - Some Asian Countries[/post_page_title]
Finally, a savory pie! This handheld helping suspends chunks of bacon inside a filling of mashed potatoes, encased in a deep-fried shell. Perfect on-the-go snack.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Filet-O Shrimp Burger - Japan[/post_page_title]
I haven't even eaten one and I already love it. Panko battered shrimp topped with Ebi shrimp tempura sauce on a bun. Does it really get much better than this?
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Rice McWrap - China[/post_page_title]
China loves rice - so this is just another sensible case of supply and demand. They are basically chicken wraps accompanied with crispy rice balls.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Rye Vegetarian Feast - Finland[/post_page_title]
Available in Finland, vegetarian customers can order a veggie patty topped with cheese, lettuce, pickles, and three different kinds of sauce served on rye bread. Now that is a veggie delight.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Pizzarotto - Italy[/post_page_title]
McDonald's haven't always had a great history of introducing pizza products, but if there's one place they can get away with it, it's Italy, right? This is basically a pizza pocket calzone, stuffed with mozzarella and tomato sauce.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Peasant Soup - Portugal[/post_page_title]
I don't quite know how I'd feel ordering a dish called "peasant soup". This combination of ham, red beans, elbow pasta, veggies, and garlic makes a quick and simple meal.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]McPoutine - Canada[/post_page_title]
For those of you that don't know, poutine is a traditional Canadian dish, originating in the province of Quebec. It is made with french fries, cheese curds, and topped with a light brown gravy.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Vegemite - Australia[/post_page_title]
Australians absolutely love Vegemite. The McDonald's Australia website states; "Enjoy a cultural icon. Add the yeasty, salty taste of VEGEMITE to your English muffin in the morning or mid-afternoon snack".
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Kiwi Stick - France[/post_page_title]
It's great that McDonald's have attempted to introduce more and more healthy items onto their menus, but why exactly have they put a kiwi on a stick?
[post_page_title]Black And White Burger - China[/post_page_title]
These two small "half burgers" were originally a limited one-time deal, however, it seemed people couldn't get enough of these tiny round bi-colored sandwiches of weird meat, flavorings, sauce, and veggies.
[post_page_title]Apricot Sundae - Turkey[/post_page_title]
Turkey's a popular holiday destination for many, and if you're vacationing there, what could be a better way to cool down than sucking into an Apricot Sundae?
[post_page_title]Pineapple Oreo McFlurry - Colombia[/post_page_title]
Oreo McFlurrys are as common as, well, Big Macs, but if you're in Columbia, you're going to be present with a much more unusual option. Pineapple Oreo McFlurry. Yes, it's a thing.
[post_page_title]McShrimp - Russia[/post_page_title]
In a world where you can get a shrimp burger at McDonald's, it only stands to reason that Chicken McNuggets would also have a fishy counterpart. While it's not known if they're served with tartar sauce or one of McDonald's staples, if you ever happen to be worse for wear in Russia at 2 am, you might want to order a side of McShrimp.
[post_page_title]Sausage And Egg Twisty Pasta Breakfast - China[/post_page_title]
In China, they've taken McDonald's breakfasts to a whole different level with the sausage and egg twisty pasta breakfast. In short, it's a noodle soup topped with a burger patty and egg.
[post_page_title]Chicken McDo With Spaghetti - Philippines[/post_page_title]
Ladies, gents and others, I present the Chicken McDo with spaghetti. This is exactly what it says on the tin. A big slice of fried chicken with spaghetti and tomato sauce.
