A melting snowman is typically some cause for concern - I'm thinking, of course, in cinematic terms - of The Snowman and of the strange melancholy of watching a snowman you've spent hours tirelessly constructing melt into the ground.

However, if said snowman is made of chocolate and it's melting to make a delicious mug of comforting, warming hot chocolate then I think we can make an exception.

Its likely that the run up to the festive season will look a little different this year, with social distancing measures still in place. Yet that doesn't mean that we all can't still enjoy ourselves.

Already, brands are starting to jockey for position in the ever-crowded Christmas product market. Indeed, we recently brought you news that you can now buy an Elf version of Monopoly, inspired by the classic Will Ferrell movie.

In Monopoly: Elf, you’ll "join Buddy the Elf in the magical land of New York City, and relive his adventures as he explores new places, finds his father, and saves Christmas with Santa," a description of the game reads.

And now, Aldi has entered the fray with its Christmas range.

Among the festive fare comes Aldi's Hot Chocolate Melting Snowman, which apparently makes the "perfect hot chocolate". The product comes in both milk and white chocolate varieties and even features a hidden filling which reveals itself as the snowman melts.

Instagram account New Foods UK spotted the melting snowman and took to their page to share news of the product.

Two videos of the Hot Chocolate Melting Snowman in action are captioned:

"New Hot Chocolate Melting Snowman now at @aldiuk ⛄️£1.79 each! ? choose from milk or white chocolate - watch them melt to discover their hidden filling! They make the perfect hot choc!"

And if the comments on the post are anything to go by, it seems that the product is going to be a big hit over the festive period. Many enamored commenters said that they would be looking out for the melting snowman next time they visited Aldi.

One commenter joked about the fate of the poor snowman, writing, "The snowman in the packet is watching his friend melt..."
