A Canadian couple held a gender reveal party for their newly-adopted 12-year-old daughter to welcome her into their family.

Charlette and Dan Fontaine decided that they wanted to do something fun to celebrate adopting their 12-year-old daughter, Bianca.

The family were no strangers to each other, as the couple had been Bianca's foster parents for the past four years before officially adopting her.

They took to TikTok to share their amazing news:

They captioned their incredible gender reveal on TikTok: "Adoption Day!! We finally got to [adopt] our beautiful foster daughter after 1240days in care! #adoption #newmom #itsagirl"

In the video above, the parents can be seen standing with a balloon and Charlette said: "I wonder what it is?"

Bianca then comes into the frame, bursts the balloon filled with pink confetti, and exclaims: "It's a 12-year-old girl!"

Speaking to BuzzFeed, Charlette said that the adoption was an arduous process: "When we first started this [adoption process], I thought I wanted a baby.

"We had to take adoption classes, and what really stuck with me in the adoption class was that sometimes kids over the age of 2 are classified as 'unadoptable' because nobody really wants a child that's not a baby. And that statement there has stuck with me and it broke my heart."

Needless to say, TikTok users were delighted by the happy news!

One TikTok user wrote: "This is the only gender reveal I want to see. Excellent. So wholesome."

A second added: "Adopting older children is really amazing. People don't understand how hard it is for them to be adopted."

Charlette and Dan explained that back in 2017 they threw loonie into Niagra Falls as they waited on the call for them to be foster parents.

Twenty-four hours later, they received that very call about Bianca, and as Charlette is a huge Harry Potter fan, she called Charlotte "The Chosen One", which is why they decided to wear Harry Potter shirts for the gender reveal!

"That's why she's our chosen one, because we threw the loonie and we were chosen," Charlotte said.
