A couple couldn't decide on the gender of their baby using IVF, so they opted to let their dog make the big decision instead.
Having kids is a big moment in anyone's life, as two people who love each other take the big step to start a family together.
San Antonio-based couple Serena and Jacob Cukjati were planning to have a child using IVF treatment, after being unable to conceive naturally.
Taking to TikTok, the couple explained that they had the option between transferring a "boy or girl" embryo, but they were unable to decide - so their dog, Charlie, got to have the final say.
"We decided we’re going to have Charlie pick our embryo essentially," Serena explained while holding two tennis balls with "boy" and "girl" written on either one.
She went on: "We wrote boy and girl on each of these balls and we’re going to throw them at the same time. Whichever one he brings back, that’s what we’re going to go with and it’s going to be final."
Charlie appeared more than up for the task as he excitedly waited for the balls to be thrown - and he did an amazing job of making it dramatic for the future parents.
The pooch sprinted after the two balls but decided to stop before making his choice.
"Wait, he’s going back and forth," Jacob said as Charlie pondered which ball to pick up. "Which one will it be?"
Charlie eventually made up his mind and happily sprinted back to the couple before dropping the ball at their feet. The drama doesn't end there, as before the gender is revealed, text pops up on the screen reading: "Come back on August 7 to find out which embryo Charlie picked!"
Speaking to the New York Post, Serena explained why the couple chose to let Charlie make such a big decision for them.
"When we ended up in IVF, a lot of those surprises were taken from us as the process of IVF is much more about science than it is about chance," she said.
"We really wanted to find opportunities to add a little magic back into growing our family and we felt like including our dogs was the perfect idea since they are such a big part of our lives."
Even though the video didn't reveal the gender of their baby, Serena revealed that they are both "shocked" by Charlie's choice.
The idea of having their dog choose the gender went down really well with viewers, as one person wrote: "So cute! When your kid gets older they’ll look back at your dog and be like hey you got me here haha so cute," and a second simply added: "This is adorable. I love this!"

We'll find out what Charlie chose on August 7!
