A wedding DJ has started a debate on social media after revealing the ludicrous amount of money he was making just for playing a Spotify playlist.

While there are a few fan-favorite songs that are bound to be heard at many weddings, most people would assume that DJs vary the soundtrack depending on the reception.

However, TikToker Mr. Fireworks (who goes by @mr__fireworks on the platform) debunked that myth in a video where he shows just how little work he needed to put into one particular wedding set.

Shared on May 12, the viral clip shows a buzzing wedding reception from the DJ's perspective. People can be seen bopping along to the music on the dance floor. But when the camera zooms in on Mr. Fireworks' laptop, we see that all he's done to get the party swinging is stick on a playlist titled 'Top 200 Wedding Party Songs' on Spotify.

Check out the video below:

"White weddings be like," the DJ captioned his video sarcastically.

The clip has already racked up over 4.7 million views and thousands of comments. Many people were outraged by Mr. Fireworks' DJ-ing technique.

"Many DJ’s actually do something you know. You aren’t supposed to be like 'oh the song ended… okay there’s the next one,'" one user wrote.

"A good DJ doesn't randomly play songs from a playlist. You pick songs based on energy levels, amount of people on the floor, age, and other demographics," another person commented. Mr. Firework's retorted: "A good DJ gets paid $4,000."

Other users agreed with Mr. Fireworks that he was only doing the same things as every other DJ. "That's every DJ ever lol," one wrote, while another added: "Finally a DJ admits that they just running a playlist."

Meanwhile, for many, the TikTok was enough to convince them that hiring a DJ is a waste of money. "That’s why I would never hire a DJ. Just make your own playlist people," one person commented. Another agreed, writing: "And this is why I will never hire a DJ. Band or playlist. Simple as that."
