If there's anyone who is most vulnerable to the recent coronavirus outbreak, it's older people who may have underlying health problems. The elderly are more likely to succumb to the contagious disease, and a great many people throughout the world are now choosing to self-isolate in a bid to prevent them from catching it.

However, sadly this has left many older people feeling left out in the cold. For instance, yesterday was Mother's Day in the United Kingdom, but Prime Minister Boris Johnson advised Britons to stay away from their older relatives for their own good.

Have a look at this video on why self-isolation is so important right now:

But this week an inspiring image has gone viral on social media, which shows an older man still managing to see their baby grandson for the first time through a window.

The image in question was uploaded to Twitter by an Irish woman named Emma, the sister of new father Míchéal Gallachoir. It shows Míchéal's father seeing his first grandchild, Faolán in his son's arms, separated by a pane of glass for their protection. Emma captioned the post: "Three generations of social distancing as my dad meets his grandson for the first time. [sic]"

After the heartrending image was subsequently retweeted more than 65,000 times, Emma returned to Twitter with a follow-up post, in which she wrote: "Thanks everyone for your lovely messages! The good news is baby Faolán is doing great and oblivious to his new fame. Also Faolán is my nephew and it is my brother Míchéal holding him. His Mammy (whose name is also Emma) took the picture. [sic]"

She added: "My dad is also doing well and is completely oblivious to his new fame. He wouldn’t let me take a pic of him but he’s smiling! My brother lives about 2 minutes away from him so he went up to say hello. He knew he couldn’t come in. He is looking forward to holding the baby soon. [sic]"
