A 23-year-old influencer with over 400,000 followers on Instagram has said he refuses to talk to his own family - not because they've wronged him but simply because they're not famous.

Larz told Australian radio show Kyle and Jackie O on Monday that he essentially cut off his non-famous relatives when his following began to grow exponentially.

"I'm just more famous than everyone and I won't talk to people who aren't unless they get the same amount of followers as me," he told hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie "O" Henderson.

Henderson then asked the California-based social media star if he has felt lonely since severing ties with his family, and the 23-year-old responded that he prefers the company of his famous friends.

"I do miss them sometimes, but I can talk to Cardi B or someone like that," he said.

Larz went on to share how he he'd blocked all nine of his siblings and is intent on keeping them blocked until they increase their own social media following.

He admitted to ditching them "so long ago" that it was "embarrassing" that some people think he still speaks to his family.

The content creator made headlines back in 2020 when he was hospitalized after catching Covid just days after he shared a video of himself licking a toilet for a bizarre TikTok craze.

The internet star, who was also part of a challenge that saw teens lick ice cream tubs in grocery stores, tweeted at the time: "I tested positive for coronavirus."

Larz previously made an appearance on Dr. Phil along with another influencer, Bameron Kall, where they talked about how they'd both licked tubs of ice cream and spat mouthwash back into the bottle all for the purpose of entertaining their followers.

"I don't talk to my family," Larz told Dr Phil. "They're irrelevant. None of them has followers. If they got followers or got rich, I'd probably talk to them again."

He also boasted about having "lots of money" from paid sponsorship deals, where he shares snaps of luxury cars and various high-profile people.

Around the same time as Larz's toilet-licking scandal, Ava Louise - a then 21-year-old social media influencer - went viral for licking a toilet seat as part of the "coronavirus challenge".

She recorded herself licking an airplane toilet seat on her way to Spring Break and said she didn't care about putting other people at risk, because it was worth the attention she was getting.

During an appearance on Dr. Phil, the host asked "what the hell" she was thinking when she decided to lick a toilet seat on the way to Spring Break, to which she responded: "One, I had way dirtier things in my mouth at Spring Break. Two, I bleached [the toilet.] Three, private plane. I flew down on my sugar daddy's plane with my best friend. So really, it wasn't that dirty."
