A transgender teen has been crowned prom king at Barnstable High School in Hyannis, Cape Cod.
Nick James Bulman, who was previously known as Nicole, came out as a transgender man last summer and began living as his authentic self - additionally taking the male hormone testosterone and having top surgery.

According to the Cape Cod Times, the teenager has had a great deal of support from his friends and family, and this was reflected by him being crowned Prom King at his school's Great Gatsby-themed bash on Friday.
"It was … really awesome," he said in an interview with the paper. "All my friends hugged me and congratulated me."
The teen added that when he came out as a transgender man, he never expected to receive so much support.

Bulman's prom was held at the town's Resort and Conference Center and his date, Kalyani Clarke, was crowned prom queen.
“[He] was a great candidate [for prom king] … He's just an all-around great person,” said class adviser Lyn Vazquez.
