Woman whose ex-boyfriend started dating her father revealed her reaction to being told they had sex in car
Saffron Drewitt-Barlow, the daughter of Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, one of Britain’s first gay dads, has opened up about the emotional complexity of her father’s relationship with her former boyfriend, Scott Hutchison.
Saffron, 21, was taken aback when she learned that Scott, now engaged to her father, often shared intimate details of their relationship with her. In one particularly uncomfortable moment, Scott revealed to Saffron that he and Barrie had sex in a car.
Speaking about the experience, Saffron confessed to The Sun, "Scott talks about their relationship all the time. One time he was telling me they had sex in the car, and I had to say, ‘OK, I don’t really want to know about your sex life with my daddy.’"
The awkwardness of the situation is something Saffron has had to navigate, particularly since Scott and Barrie’s relationship began after Saffron and Scott had already dated.
While Saffron has no romantic feelings for Scott anymore, she admitted that the situation still made her uncomfortable. "Don’t get me wrong, I see it sometimes and it makes me want to throw up, but I wouldn’t just stand in the kitchen and watch. I walk away," she explained. Despite the tension, she has accepted their relationship, offering her support to Barrie and Scott as they move forward together.
Living under one roof in a complex family dynamic
Despite Barrie’s separation from his ex-husband Tony and his new engagement to Saffron's ex, the family continues to live together in a £6 million mansion in Florida.
The arrangement might seem unusual, but it works for them. Saffron, her father, Scott, Tony, and her younger siblings all share the vast house. Saffron expressed that she finds their living situation manageable as long as boundaries are respected, such as keeping their romantic moments private.
In fact, Saffron also revealed her willingness to help Barrie and Scott expand their family, offering to donate her eggs so they could have more children together. She said, “I’ve already frozen my eggs for them, so Daddy and Scott just have to say the word.”
