A mother has sparked a debate on social media after revealing that she allows her children to swear around the house.

Casara, who goes by the handle @casaranjuan on TikTok, shared a video explaining five parenting points that are foundational to her as a parent.

In the caption of her clip, Casara wrote she has a very "open and honest" relationship with her children and admitted that she lets her kids use curse words so that they know who they can swear around and understand when it's appropriate to do so.

"They know when they can swear, how they can swear, and who they can swear around - and they're allowed to swear," she said. "If you think the worst thing your child can do is swear, then you have another thing coming."

In the same video, Casara elaborated on the honesty of her parenthood and clarified that her aim is to make sure that her children can trust her no matter what the situation.

For example, the mother of four said that she wants them to understand that when they are older and go out with friends and drink too much, they can feel comfortable enough to call her to pick them up.

"Let's face it - peer pressure is real and people can't learn unless they make mistakes or do something they're not supposed to do," she said.

Another point is teaching her children from a young age what sex is. She explains: "That way they know what the consequences are, what the actions are, what the positive to everything is and they don't ever have to be ashamed of who they are."

However, it was the point about the curse words which attracted the most comments from users, some of whom were surprised that she would allow her kids to swear in front of her. Others agreed with Casara's unique parenting tip.

One user wrote: "Ok I need a video about swearing. When is it allowed? How do I not get embarrassed if she swears at school for example?"

Another said: "Love this! As parents, we set the boundaries and kids benefit so much from this method!!! #LifeSkills."

A third user shared: "I do all [except allow my kids to swear]. It's a respect thing for me. I know they more than likely do, but they know it is not something I condone."

Casara shared a follow-up video explaining why she had chosen to allow swearing after her initial TikTok amassed 1.7 million views and 385.1K likes on the social media platform.

"We allow our kids to swear - yes, but they don't walk around our house swearing, effing this, and doing that," the mother said. "As my husband said, who even deemed swear words swear words? Like who deemed them to be bad words?"

"We swear and it originally started with if my son walked by and stubbed his toe he'd be like 's***'," she said, adding, "They're not walking up swearing up a storm. It's just that if they say a swear word I'm not gonna correct them."

Regardless, everyone has their own rules and techniques they use when it comes to parenting.
