On Sunday, people all over the world celebrated perhaps the most unique Mother's Day any of us have ever had.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, this year was the first time many of us couldn't see our moms on Mother's Day, as lockdown measures kept us home. In fact, even those who were able to pop round the block and see their mom had to wave through the window, as social distancing rules meant no hugs and kisses could be given.

Fortunately, there are the incredible delivery men and women still working to make sure our moms could receive the cards, flowers, and gifts we sent them. However, some daughters out there went a step further to pay tribute to their moms.

In a heartfelt social media trend, some women dressed as their moms for Mother's Day, recreating photographs from when their mamas were their age. As you'll see, some of the comparisons were incredible.

After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

This year, the trend was kicked off by Paige Leneigh, who took to Twitter to share her mom Coya Robinson's looks for Mother's Day. Speaking to Bored Panda about the stunning snaps, Paige said:

"I was inspired to recreate my mom’s photos after she showed me some photos of her from the ’90s at my age the week before Mothers’s Day! I was more in awe about how we had the same aura/swag at the same age as well as looks."

With her family quarantined, Paige thought it would be a good idea to surprise her mom by recreating some of her old photos. "I don’t think she expected me to create it that quickly," Paige added.

Paige dubbed the trend the #ThrowbackMiniMeChallenge.

Paige talked to Bored Panda about her surprise after realizing her post was gaining attention all over the world, saying:

"I just casually posted the collages not thinking about retweets just as a nice Mother’s Day post and tribute to her, but it quickly started to become retweeted and liked by many all over the world.

"Before you know it my tweet had over 613k likes and over 52k retweets! Then several big Instagram pages started to repost our photos as well. My friends were calling and messaging me about how crazy this was blowing up. I had so many notifications in different languages, I couldn’t believe it."

I think we can all agree that all of these are absolutely incredible and wonderful tributes to our moms!
