A senior sex worker has revealed the heartbreaking reason she was celibate for 40 years before discovering her love for swinging and escorting.
Caroline V, 73, has made a name for herself as the 'OAP Bonnie Blue' after finding she was very much in demand as an escort in her twilight years.
However, despite her saucy seventies, she was not always indulging in a fruitful sex life - in fact, she was celibate for 40 years from the age of 17 until she was 57.
Speaking on the Tea at Four podcast, Caroline revealed the devastating reason why she went without sex for four decades after also turning to religion.
Addressing her previous celibacy, Caroline admitted: "How it originally started was, I'd had sex before when I was really young, when I was 16, 17, but I didn't enjoy it, because the guys were not good [people], and I was gang raped on one occasion by six guys, so if you want major traumas, that's certainly the biggest one I've ever had.
"So I didn't miss it. So when I became a Christian and we couldn't have sex, it was like well I didn't enjoy it anyway, so it's not going to be any loss."
She added: "So that was how I managed to go through the 40 years, partly obviously because not only was it not allowed in the church but also because I didn't have any interest in it, I didn't feel sexy.
"I didn't start acknowledging that guys found me sexy until I joined the first dating site."
Her sexual discovery coincided with a decision to leave the church, though the two were not connected.
She explained: "I became a born again Christian [at 17] and in the church I was attending, it was no sex outside of marriage.
"I left the church because I was completely disillusioned, because having been there for 40 years - and I'd had mental health issues throughout my life, and suicidal a few times - and the only way they thought they could help was offering to pray for me."
Caroline joked: "I must have had thousands and thousands of prayers over the years and not one of them was ever answered. So my conclusion was, if there is a God, I can kind of understand why he's not answering mine, but he doesn't seem to be answering anyone else's either.
"So actually, is there a God? And if there is, he doesn't give a stuff about me."
A flirtation with a 27-year-old rugby player she met through work when she was 57 led her to realize she was desired by younger men, and she joined a dating site where she found she was being messaged by men as young as 18 that were interested in her.
She drew the line at meeting with men "young enough to be her grandson", but soon went on a date with a man closer to her age, with whom she experienced oral sex for the first time.
An encounter with another man she'd met on the dating site sparked a conversation in which he suggested she visit a swingers club he'd been attending, which introduced her to that way of life.
"I had started the swinging while I was still going to church, which obviously nobody knew about - I can't imagine the frowns I would have got!", she shared.
One of her lovers had suggested that she look into escorting as a way to combine her newfound interest with earning some money.
Caroline decided to look into it, and ended up charging for sex alongside working two other jobs as a florist and in a supermarket "just to pay my mortgage."
She revealed: "That was the main reason why I started escorting, because I wasn't earning enough to pay the mortgage."
Thankfully, it soon turned to a lucrative career for her and allowed her to get on top of her financial situation, and she shared that she was making up to £3,000 ($4,000) a month at the peak.
