You'd hope at your wedding you'd only have eyes for your soon-to-be spouse. You are choosing to spend the rest of your life with them after all.
However, last month, a video taken at a wedding saw a bride ask her husband-to-be for permission to hug her ex. And this was moments before they said their I dos. Awkward!
In the video, posted on January 19, the ex can be seen extending his hand towards the bride for her to shake.
However, it appears that a mere handshake isn't enough for the soon-to-be-married woman, who immediately turns to the groom and appears to ask him if she can hug the man instead.
She even lifts up her index finger as if to gesture "one last time".
The groom, who is seen half-smiling at the impromptu request, agrees with a simple nod before his partner enters into a warm embrace with her former lover.
The ex sneaks over a look at the groom during the affectionate cuddle at which point the husband-to-be gently shakes his head.
However, the ex then makes sure to congratulate his counterpart on his nuptials by placing his own hands around the groom's hand and bowing slightly. The two men then have an awkward hug of their own while the bride goes on to greet other guests at the wedding.
The video has since gone viral with 5.6 million views, over 390K likes, and more than 19K comments.
Many of the commenters felt sorry for the groom, with some saying that he looked "hurt" by the cuddle.
One person suggested: "Next day she may ask you permission for more.. Poor guy."
Another said: "Your face can't lie bro, it's hurt but its okey [sic]."
A third commented: "Ur husband deserve better [sic]."
However, not everyone was all that critical of what they ultimately saw as just another sweet moment at a wedding.
One person defended the bride, saying: "If he allows it, it means he is not an insecure husband, y'all."
Another joked: "At least [she's] asking for permission."
Is the moment really as awkward as some of the commenters are making it out to be, or is it just an innocent gesture? Let us know in the comments.
