An elderly man has taken a beauty class in a bid to help his visually impaired wife with her cosmetics.

According to Fox News, the 79-year-old Albertan man in question (who wishes to remain anonymous) showed up for a training session at the Delmar College of Hair and Esthetics in Red Deer, on April 23.

He stated that he wanted to learn about cosmetology in order to assist his wife of 50 years, who has been struggling with her vision and has injured herself while hair-curling previously.

The senior promptly received an impromptu lesson in curling and in the application of mascara from college staff, while an apprentice hairdresser named Britney snapped pictures of the heartwarming scene.

Sharing them later on Facebook, Britney wrote in a caption:

"This lovely gentleman came in today to learn how to curl his wife’s hair.

"His wife is unable to curl her own hair and often burns herself, so he stepped up to the plate and learned how to curl her hair. We had the pleasure of teaching him!

"We taught him how to do volume curls on short hair, how to protect her skin from being burned and we even taught him to put on her mascara."

Britney's post quickly picked up plenty of attention and, as of the time of writing, has accrued over 146,000 shares, 388,000 shares, and a further 25,000 comments from other Facebook users who were touched by the man's love for his spouse.

For example, one person commented: "Heartwarming story from both angles. His wife is so blessed to have him. I had one of those husbands. Thank you for your kindness in teaching him. Too many people don’t want to spend time with us elderly folks."

Commenting on the heartwarming incident in a later interview, Delmar College Director Carrie Hannah told Fox News:

"He lovingly pulled pictures from his wallet, showing everyone his wife, and boasting about how beautiful she has always been and how talented she was with the skillset of typing over 100 words a minute when she was working."

Hannah added: "Her appearance has always been something she has taken pride in and it's important to her so therefore important to him.

"They look after each other and still have love and admiration for each other - that had all of us in tears after he left."
