If you weren't someone who particularly enjoyed school, you may have found yourself passing notes to your friends to pass the time. Maybe you've even kept a couple of the old hand-written relics over the years?

If so, you have at least one thing in common with a certain guy on YouTube who recently opened a 10-year-old note in a video for the very first time.

In the description for the short clip, the YouTuber - known only by his username Cherry Pie Man, explains: "My friend gave me this note in class, and I waited over 10 years! New Zealand time, by the way. I opened it exactly when it was supposed to be opened!"

Check out the 15-second note reveal below:

At the start of the video, Cherry Pie Man flashes the unopened note, with the words: "Open on 11:29 PM 11/4/2021" written on it.

He then opens up the piece of paper to reveal the contents of the note. As hilariously anti-climactic as it might seem, it simply said: "Wassup".

And yet, despite the note's lack of substance, the video has managed to rack up an incredible 1.7 million views in a matter of just two days!

It also spawned a huge reaction in the comments section, with over 5,000 people having shared their thoughts so far.

One commenter suggested: "Find the person that gave you this, and write them a note to open in 10 years that says not much you?"

Another wrote: "His friend knew this man could resist reading this note for 10 years. That's a whole new level of trust."

A different user praised Cherry Pie Man's patience, writing: "Honestly, mad respect for even keeping and remembering the note for 10 years."

A fourth commenter said: "It would’ve been such a plot twist if it said 'you’re my crush' years later after they both got married."

Another wondered how the video of an unknown YouTuber was able to gain such traction: "Everyone is talking about the note but in wondering how a random guy with not even 1K subs managed to get #1 on Trending."

Somone agreed: "This may be the most bizarre trending decision youtube has ever made. and that's saying something."
