A girl has gone viral after thinking her dad was having an affair when she saw an influencer's Christmas photo... then getting it horribly wrong.

It all happened after influencer Caitlyn Rae decided to post an admittedly fire picture of herself outside New York's Rockefeller Center on Instagram.

She captioned the picture of herself in an all-red outfit: "hi it's me cruella de vil back at it again with 4 very similar pictures of myself just to let you know that i uploaded my NYC vlog today and that ill [sic] probably never wear a better outfit than this."

Then, shortly after making the post, she received a direct message from a follower, informing her that the man in the background was her dad and that her picture was proof that he was having an affair.

This man caught his wife cheating on his dashcam footage:

The girl wrote: "Are you f*cking serious that's my dad on the right with another girl in your last picture he said he was going away on a business trip for the weekend but obviously not they look so close. I f*cking knew it."

Convinced she's unknowingly torn apart a family, Caitlyn reposted the picture on Twitter alongside the revelation, captioning the images: "merry christmas i just ruined a family by posting on instagram."

However, all was not as it seemed in this tale of a festive snap gone wrong, and after Caitlyn's post went viral, an unlikely, but hilarious truth was revealed.

Then the actual man in the snap recognized himself and came forward on Twitter, writing: "bruh… that’s me I ain't ya dad yo."

So too did the woman in the picture, his girlfriend. She retweeted it, writing: "Baby and I went viral to end 2019 all bc some girl thought Bruno was her dad cheating."

Talk about jumping the gun... Let's just hope that the girl who thought her dad was cheating discovered the truth before telling her mom and letting all hell break lose.
