A groom has been branded “disrespectful” on Reddit after an image of him sporting a t-shirt and shorts to his own wedding was shared on the site.
Taking to the site’s Wedding Shaming forum, Redditor u/margnaheglish posted a photo in which the casually-dressed groom and more traditionally attired bride are seen holding a sword, seemingly with which to cut their wedding cake.
The poster captioned the photo: “The groom’s idea of dressing for the occasion…”
Since it was posted less than two weeks ago, the picture has attracted hundreds of commenters from appalled Reddit users who are in disbelief that someone would opt for an outfit so underwhelming - especially given that his bride had dressed for the occasion.
One commenter wrote: “It seems like he doesn't really want to get married and just went along with it out of laziness. Also his outfit is very disrespectful to his bride. I don't think that marriage is going to last.”

Another suggested the groom simply wasn’t that bothered about the nuptials in the first place, writing: “Tell me you didn't want to get married without telling me you didn't want to get married.”

A third wanted to know: "Did something spill on his clothes and he had no back up clothes to wear? Or does he have extreme sensory issues and can't stand to wear a collar? Like that's the only thing I can think of here besides blatant disrespect."

However, the attention wasn’t all negative, with one person defending the man.

They wrote: “While they could certainly be under 21 (they seem fairly young) it could be a dry wedding for family reasons. I agree with some of these comments, but some kinda miss the mark for me, and the shame here is mostly just the groom's choice of attire.
“It almost looks like a surprise wedding where he came home/over (clearly someone's house, right?) not expecting this. For all we know, she's the person who wanted to cut the cake with a katana and ordered the pikachu cookies, there's female nerds too.”
