A woman's résumé has gone viral on social media this week after her boyfriend spotted a terrible error that has led to her staying unemployed.
The trouble began when a Reddit user with the handle MyNameIsFranks took to a subforum on Reddit called r/TIFU - where users post about ways in which they screwed up.
In this instance, MyNameIsFranks posted: "TIFU by saving my girlfriend's résumé without double-checking the new file."

The Redditor wrote:
"One day while my girlfriend was at work she asked me to go on her computer which was open at home. All I had to do was re-save her resume in a new file titled 'gf’s resume.' Simple right? Wrong...
"Whilst saving said resume, her computer thought it would be funny to change the name header back to the profile user name. PRINCESS BANANA HAMMOCK, which was then shortened to Princess Banana Hamm due to spacing. Neither of us noticed. [sic]"

He continued:
"Fast forward to today, she goes to update her resume to apply for a new job and there it was. The bane of her existence. We both immediately realized why she hasn’t been getting called back for any interviews."
The post picked up a number of comments and upvotes from other Redditors who found the cautionary tale hilarious.

For instance, one person wrote:
"Kind of her fault. When submitting a resume you always tailor it to the position you are applying for. (Each company is different) so if she is submitting it to multiple places without checking it first, that becomes her fault. Not to mention [it's] right in your face Princess."

Another person chimed in:
"That's an awesome name. I would say it's actually conceivable that she could have received a call back with that name because the fan of Friends resume screener in HR thought she was trying to be clever and standout. If I was that screener, I'd at least set it aside and have a closer look."

A third person added:
"Gotta be honest, I'm more interested in the nickname than the problem here... But seriously, you went to do a solid favor and a slight oversight might have turned into a costly mistake. Trust me, worse things will happen...and this will not seem like such a big deal after a little time passes.
"You will laugh about it in time. Like what if she lands the job of her dreams...that she never would have been looking for if the Banana Hammock resume' hadn't happened? These are the kind of screwups we learn from...so learn, be better, and do something special for her."
So there you have it. If you're sending off a résumé in the near future, then please remember to double, triple, and quadruple check it before you send it away.
