A loving wife explained in a very candid Facebook post why she takes a bite out of her husband's lunch that she has made for him every day throughout their 41-year marriage - and hearts are seriously melting.
Posted alongside the lengthy caption was a picture of a bread roll sandwich with a small bite in it placed in a Ziploc bag.
Tracy Howell, from Texas, explained that it's almost like she's having lunch with her husband Clifford despite not actually being there when he does tuck in.

The first time Tracy enacted the ritual, Clifford was unaware that his wife would be taking a bite of his lunch, and he told her that someone had snuck themselves a bit of his sandwich.
Tracy wrote in the sweet post:
"Clifford and I have been married almost 41 years and I have made his lunch every working day since day 1.
"On occasion, I would join him on the job site and have lunch with him. He made the comment once that lunch tasted better when you share it with someone you love."

"Soon after that, while fixing his sandwich one night, I took a bite out of it before putting it away. When he got home (long before cell phones) he commented that someone took a bite out of his sandwich.
"I told him that since I couldn’t join him for lunch, I took a bite so he knew I was joining him. I continue to do this frequently (unless it’s tuna or pimento cheese) and he still says, “saw you joined me for lunch today and it sure was good."

Needless to say, plenty of people took to the comments to share their thoughts on the touching tradition.
One said: "I love you guys anyway and now I love you even more!!! That’s how it’s supposed to be and so seldom is."
Another added: "Aww, such a sweet little gesture. I have grown up with you 2 as a role model marriage
"Now I know y'all have had your ups and downs, been tested with your kids & offspring creators. But still together, that takes a lot of questioning one's self and blaming the other. Yet y'all have overcome that, Mrs. Tracy those are goals..."
