A woman made what she initially believed was a very sinister discovery while out on a Florida beach, only to discover it was a lot more innocent than she first thought.

Kathleen, a volunteer for the environmental nonprofit Ocean Hour, was walking on a beach in Perdido Key, Florida, when she came across a sight which very much looked like a body that been washed up on the shore.

The volunteer later explained to Ocean Hour that she thought she had stumbled across a decapitated corpse. In fact, another passerby was so concerned that they even called 911.

Fortunately, it all turned out perfectly fine as the "dead body" was not a dead body at all - it was merely a store mannequin covered in barnacles.

Earlier this week, (Monday, November 16), Ocean Hour took to Facebook to share their volunteer's initially spooky story. The group also posted several photos - and honestly, they would give anyone a spook.

"Volunteer Kathleen was walking the intercoastal side in Perdido Key…when she came across what she thought was a dead, decapitated body. Another visitor had even called 911," Ocean Hour wrote.

"Upon further investigating, she realized it was a mannequin!" They added.

It is still unknown how long the mannequin was in the water or how it came to be there.

"We are glad it wasn’t a real body!" Ocean Hour concluded.

So far the organization's post has managed to rack an impressive 2.8k shares, 1.9k reactions, and 714 comments.

A number of the commenters confessed that they would have been equally as scared by the sight - if not more.
