In this day and age, a lot of women are seemingly sick of waiting for their men to fix up and propose, so they're taking matters into their own hands - though this one woman has really stirred up quite the debate online.
In a video posted to Instagram by a popular account that specializes in setting up special occasions for people, social media users were left clutching their pearls after witnessing a woman getting down on one knee for her man.
The footage showed the woman leading her soon-to-be-fiancé to an intimate dinner set up overlooking a city skyline in Sydney wearing a red slip dress.
Her man, who was donning a black shirt and beige chinos, was wearing a blindfold, clearly unaware of what he was walking into.
Once they arrive at the beautiful setting, he removes his blindfold, and she immediately gets down on one knee and asks him to marry her.
He begins kissing her face before accepting the proposal and embracing each other - much to the dismay of some Instagram users who vocalized their disgust at the scene.
Have a look at the clip below:"I’d rather wrestle a shark in Sydney harbour than get on one knee for a man," wrote one user, while another added: "Girl get up and stop embarrassing us all."
A third commented: "Do you see that bridge? If you look closely, you can see me jumping off from secondhand embarrassment."
And this user was clearly also less than impressed writing: "I'd clean the entire house with a Q-Tip before I did that."
This person also thought they'd offer her a glimpse into the future stating: "That’s going to be her whole life. Begging him."
However, not everyone was quite as negative.
"These comments are NOT it. This woman found someone she loves unconditionally and would do anything for. So she proposed. I hope one day you all find someone you are be willing to serve and support, and receive that love equally in return. A man’s shoulders can only carry so much. They are still human. They have emotions. They need to feel love and be nurtured as well," wrote this person.
And another agreed, recalling their own experience of popping the big question.
"He clearly was just surprised, job well done! I proposed to my now husband and it was epic and beautiful. Who says us women can’t steal the show? Congrats soon to be bride and groom!"
And this Instagrammer was all for it too writing: "You don’t know their story. How does a woman proposing to her man make any difference in your life? Be gone with all that negativity. Love is love! "
