BREAKING: 'Game of Thrones' actor Wilko Johnson dies aged 75

Games of Thrones actor Wilko Johnson has died at the age of 75, according to a statement shared on his official social media accounts.

It read: "This is the announcement we never wanted to make, and we do so, on behalf of Wilko’s family and the band, with a very heavy heart: Wilko Johnson has died. He passed away at home on Monday evening, 21st November 2022.

"Thank you for respecting Wilko’s family’s privacy at this very sad time, and thank you all for having been such a tremendous support throughout Wilko’s incredible life. RIP Wilko Johnson."

Johnson, who previously worked as an English teacher and later became a punk icon, shot to stardom in the 70s with Dr Feelgood.

The actor and musician, who was born John Peter Wilkinson, was beloved for his distinctive guitar sound. He also played a significant role in the English punk movement.

Johnson was in the group Ian Drury and the Blockheads before going on to form his own band, the Wilko Johnson Band.

Needless to say, plenty of Johnson's fans have since taken to the comments to share their devastation over his passing.

One wrote: "Oh this is so sad, Wilko has been a hero of mine since the 1970s , I have had the pleasure of seeing him many times and remember with fondness a night in the tiny penny theatre in Canterbury where his trio played up a storm, he shook my hand as he left the stage ..wow such a great performer totally unique. rest well my friend."

Another added: "Gutted. A guitar hero since the mid 70s who I've had the pleasure of working with many times over the years. My condolences to his family and band."

A third penned: "So sad to hear this . Seen him with dr feel good ,Ian dury and the blockheads and farewell solo tour sending love and condolences to family band members and friends."

A final fan shared: "Thanks for the incredible memories Wilko, especially those years you gave us at The Railway Hotel, in later years, with Dave and Fiona. A catalyst, a renaissance man for The Thames Estuary. On top of that an inspiration for many musicians locally and round the world. My thoughts with all family and friends at this sad time."
