"Thank you to the community for their patience and understanding."

As of now, the suspect's identity has not been disclosed, and the case remains under investigation.

A Baltimore native, Carroll had built a reputation as a touring comic with a strong fanbase and a long-running career.

He appeared on several TV shows, including Showtime at the Apollo in 2000 and an episode of The Parkers, according to his IMDb.

She paid tribute to her longtime friend and collaborator on Instagram, describing him as her “brother in comedy,” per Deadline.

"This is why I say treat people the best you can because you never know if you'll get a chance to see them again, and the last time me and my brother Reggie, girl, was together," she wrote in a heartfelt post.

"That's what it was, an amazing time, being on tour together, being on that road together, what a time, so I have no sad tears because all of our time together was amazing."

The loss has also been felt deeply in Carroll’s hometown. Club Mobtown Comedy, a local institution in Baltimore’s comedy scene, shared a tribute via Instagram on August 23.
