Ed Sheeran’s cousin shares theory on why he believes Macklemore was kicked off tour
The outspoken cousin of a musician who was canceled this week for not speaking out has called Ed Sheeran a coward and refused to take back his earlier scathing comments about the singer.
As you well know by now, last week, Macklemore released a lengthy statement on social media, explaining that he was removed from Ed Sheeran's tour after he made comments in support of Palestine.
Why did Ed's cousin hit out at him again?
Following his removal from Ed Sheeran's tour, every other artist involved, including the likes of Finneas and Lukas Graham, withdrew in response to the decision, and Sheeran has faced overwhelming backlash online.
It comes after Sheeran took to social media to explain the decision, saying he didn't want his shows to become a “political forum”.
In the aftermath of the scandal, Ed's cousin Jethro, who has long been critical of his family’s most musical member, posted an old picture of the pair on Instagram and captioned the post: “You can’t silence me! Ed Sheeran is a coward !! I’m embarrassed about this photo but it’s 10 years old !”
The family feud has intensified, with Jethro appearing on Piers Morgan’s podcast Uncensored, where he certainly did not shy away from making his thoughts clear.
He told the controversial host: “Seeing what he did to Macklemore, I believe that he kicked him off that show, as I’ve witnessed him being a coward for almost 10 years and lying.”
When Piers suggested that people could perceive his public digs at Ed as jealousy, Jethro replied: “He’s very talented and people think I’m jealous, but jealous of what? His looks, his guitar? I mean, I don’t hate him at all. I wish him the best.”
Macklemore has become the hero in the saga
While the terrible week for the 'Thinking Out Loud' singer continues into its second, Macklemore has announced a Free Palestine Tour, which many other A-list artists have endorsed.
In the days since the controversy kicked off, Macklemore has done plenty to prove he’s on the right side of history.
The Grammy winner has pledged $1 million to Palestinian relief nonprofits, fully committing to donating his entire net earnings from the Loop tour to six nonprofits in particular.
Speaking about the people of Palestine in an Instagram post on Wednesday, he explained that he wanted to “bring the conversation back to where it belongs.”
Among the six donation recipients were the Medical Aid for Palestinians, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA.
