Amber Heard has once again found herself in the eye of a social media storm.

Since losing her high-profile defamation case to her ex-husband Johnny Depp, the actor has continued to make headlines by giving a tell-all interview with NBC's Dateline last week.

Now, she's once again making a splash - this time by shopping at TJ Maxx.

According to a report by TMZ, the Aquaman star was 'papped' in the Hampton's branch of the department store, which is famous for offering high-value goods at discounted prices.

Given that jurors ordered Heard to pay her ex over $8 million in damages, the sight of her combing the rails at T J Maxx has - unsurprisingly - given rise to speculation that the actor is having to tighten her purse strings.

"Amber Heard's money situation is apparently somewhat dire these days in the wake of the Johnny Depp verdict," TMZ captioned the snaps. Another Twitter user reshared them, writing: "Tell me you're being sued for $8+ million, without telling me you're being sued for $8+ million."

However, many people weren't convinced. They thought that the 'paparazzi' photos looked like they'd been set up - and that Heard wanted to be spotted shopping in a 'discount department store' so try and garner some sympathy.

"I think Amber shopping at TJ Maxx today has to be a set up!! She’s up to her old tricks alerting TMZ," one wrote while another agreed, tweeting: "She’s blatantly trying to pull on heartstrings by staging the TJ Maxx photos in an attempt to look poor and struggling."

"Amber Heard PR team in full overtime mode. Got her shopping at TJ Maxx?!Just pay that man his $8.3M and move on," a third person joked.

Meanwhile, others leaped to T J Maxx's defense, making the point that you don't have to be "broke" to shop there - especially not at the branch in the Hamptons.

"Who would've thought "broke" & Hamptons would be in the same sentence. Newsflash rich people shop Tj Maxx & Target too," one person wrote, while another chimed in: "The moral of the story is: it doesn’t matter how successful you are in life, there’s always a good time to be had at TJ Maxx."

"Say what you want about Amber Heard, but LEAVE TJ MAXX OUT OF THIS. I won’t stand for the slander," added a third.

One thing you can't argue with? Those TJ Maxx prices. Love me a bargain.
