As fans of both Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner react to the news that the stars are headed for divorce, TMZ has reported on the alleged catalyst that may have resulted in their split.
Despite being one of the most beloved celebrity couples in Hollywood, news broke earlier this week that Jonas had reportedly filed for divorce from Turner, ending their four-year marriage.
Neither the 'Cake By the Ocean' singer nor the Game of Thrones actress has provided any reasons behind their separation, but TMZ has claimed that the reason "involves a Ring camera".
According to the outlet, multiple sources close to Joe Jonas told TMZ that footage captured on a Ring doorbell camera - whose specific details remain undisclosed - served as a tipping point for the singer. The footage allegedly made Jonas realize that "their marriage was over", sources say - although representatives for both stars have yet to confirm the allegations.
The days following the divorce announcement have been filled with speculations and insider claims about the underlying tensions in the couple's relationship.
One source told TMZ: "[Turner] likes to party; [Jonas] likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles." This narrative seemed to gain traction when photos and videos of Turner partying in the UK surfaced online, released by the general manager of Dropshot Digbeth, an arcade bar in Birmingham, England.
While Jonas' decision appears sudden, insiders claim the singer has been "unhappy" for some time and took the step toward divorce as a "last resort." A source told Page Six: "He never wanted to break up his family, but he had to take what he felt was the best course of action for his girls."
It's worth noting that, according to the divorce court documents, Jonas has been living with their two daughters most of the time leading up to the separation.
Despite the ongoing drama, both Jonas and Turner took to their respective Instagram profiles to issue a joint statement.
"After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage," they said, urging fans to "respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
The couple, who initially tied the knot in a private ceremony in Las Vegas before a grand wedding in France, signed a prenuptial agreement back in April 2019. According to divorce filings, Jonas will "keep all of his royalties from the music," whereas Turner retains "any residuals from her acting career." For the legal battle ahead, Jonas has reportedly enlisted the services of celebrity attorney Tom Sasser, known for handling Tiger Woods' divorce.
