Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s split has stunned fans worldwide.

After nearly two decades together, the Babygirl actress has officially filed for divorce from her husband of 19 years.

Now, fresh details about the couple’s prenuptial agreement have resurfaced, and one little-known clause could mean a massive payout for Urban.

Keith Urban has discussed his past struggles with addiction

Urban has spoken openly about his past battles with drugs and alcohol, and how Nicole helped pull him out of that dark chapter.

According to reports, the couple agreed to a so-called “cocaine clause” when they married in 2006.

The deal outlined that for every year Keith remained sober during their marriage, he would be entitled to $600,000 from Nicole, News.com.au details.

As the 'Somebody Like You' singer has reportedly stayed sober since entering rehab in 2006, he could walk away with a staggering $11 million from this clause alone.

“That’s the point right there, where she really should’ve just walked,” Keith told Oprah Winfrey in 2010, reflecting on how Nicole staged an intervention just months into their marriage.

“I’m just so glad she didn’t.

"She initiated this intervention, and it was done in such a way that the love in that room at that moment was just right.”

He later told Rolling Stone that he felt “very, very blessed to have Nic call an intervention,” crediting both his wife and his close circle of friends for helping him commit to sobriety.

How Nicole stood by him

Urban has acknowledged that he wasn’t in recovery when he and Nicole wed.

“I wasn’t in AA. I didn’t have a sponsor. Meeting Nic and falling in love with Nic… that was my sobriety,” he admitted.

In 2024, while honoring Nicole at her AFI Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony (during which the actress was also honored by her co-star Zac Efron), Keith again reflected on that rocky start:

“Four months into a marriage, and I’m in rehab for three months with no idea what was going to happen to us.

"Nic pushed through every negative voice (even her own) and she chose love. And here we are tonight, 18 years later.

"Her capacity to love is like no one I’ve ever met.”

Family and moving forward

Urban completed rehab in early 2007, and the couple began building a new life together in Nashville. They went on to welcome two daughters: Sunday Rose in 2008 and Faith Margaret in 2010.

But in recent months, the relationship appears to have fractured.

Reports claim the couple has been living apart since early summer, according to Hello!, and their last public appearance together was at a FIFA Club World Cup game in Los Angeles in June.

With divorce proceedings now underway, Keith Urban’s sobriety (and that unusual prenup clause) could leave him with a multimillion-dollar settlement.
