Kelly Ripa's daughter, Lola Consuelos, suggested she plans to recreate her parents' viral swimsuit photo.
The 23-year-old daughter of Live hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos was joined by her mom for a photoshoot for PEOPLE’s “World’s Most Beautiful” issue.
During the interview, Lola had a lightbulb moment, telling the 54-year-old TV host: “I'm going to say one thing right now. What if - POV - I post [this] with my boyfriend. What does Dad do?”
Ripa couldn’t help but laugh at the thought, saying: “Oh my gosh, that's a great idea...We should recreate it and see!”
The photo in question is a classic Instagram moment that featured Ripa in a black bathing suit, bending over toward the camera, while her 54-year-old husband, wearing only swim trunks, reacts with theatrical delight.
Despite her daughter's mock disapproval, Ripa is still proud of the snapshot, saying: “It's my favorite photo I've ever taken," but Lola, clearly less impressed, chimed in: “It's just so unnecessary.”
The All My Children actress explained the backstory behind the iconic snap, sharing: “What's important about this photo is that I took it with the timer on my cell phone, and I just couldn't believe that it came out that good or funny!"
"[Mark] was sort of walking behind, and I was bending over, and I'm like, 'I'm going to see if this timer thing works.' And it turned out to be a really cute photo," she added.
“Cute” might not be the word Lola would use but she is fully committed to her revenge plan.
“No, I stand by [wanting] to recreate it with my boyfriend,” she said, naming longtime partner Cassius. “And my dad is going to have a heart attack.”
Ripa doubled down on her defense of the viral image, calling it “sensible” and a playful moment from their busy lives. “We never had a day off of work, so it just seemed like the sensible thing to do,” she said.
While Lola may have the green light to parody their swimsuit moment, there’s one thing her famous parents won’t tolerate - an elopement.
“We would literally die,” her mom admitted when asked how she and Mark would feel if their daughter skipped a traditional wedding. “We would track her down and un-elope her!”
“They track my iPhone,” Lola joked. “They would bring me back.”
Ripa has been married to the Riverdale actor since 1996. The couple also shares two sons: Michael Joseph, 27, and Joaquin Antonio, 21.
They were also proud pet parents to two beloved dogs: four-year-old Lena and 17-year-old Chewie.
Back in February, the pair announced on their talk show that their dog Chewie had sadly passed away. "Chewie had stopped eating for a couple days and had been eating less and less for the past few weeks. She was extremely dehydrated and had some neurological stuff going on," Consuelos shared, cited by Entertainment Weekly.
“You think, okay, I'm doing the right thing. This isn't going to be easy, but it's probably one of the toughest things we've had to do as a married couple,” he said. “Thank God we haven't had any tragedy befall us like that, but she was just a great part of our life.”
