The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating a chilling discovery in which a decomposing body was found inside an abandoned Tesla once owned by singer D4vd.

On September 8, 2025, workers at a tow yard in Hollywood reported a foul odor coming from the vehicle, prompting authorities to investigate. Inside, they found the body hidden in a bag in the car’s trunk, NBC News reports.

The car had been towed from the Hollywood Hills area approximately five days before the body was discovered, though authorities have yet to release further details about the identity of the deceased.

D4vd, born David Anthony Burke, was not present at the scene. At the time of the discovery, the artist was performing in Wisconsin as part of his ongoing Withered world tour.

D4vd, who is reportedly cooperating with the investigation, rose to fame with his hit song 'Romantic Homicide' in 2022.

NBC Los Angeles has confirmed that the artist is not facing charges, though authorities continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the abandoned vehicle.

Born in New York City on March 28, 2005, D4vd was raised in Queens before relocating to Houston, Texas. His music career began in 2021 when he began sharing tracks on SoundCloud, but it was his involvement with the video game Fortnite that helped him gain a larger following. Inspired by the music featured in Fortnite, D4vd transitioned into indie and pop genres, and his 2022 track 'Romantic Homicide' eventually earned a spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

In interviews, D4vd has spoken about his early life, mentioning that up until age 13, he listened primarily to gospel music before discovering hip-hop and indie rock.

His musical journey also led to collaborations with notable artists like 21 Savage and Kali Uchis. In 2025, he released 'Crashing' with Uchis, and he also partnered with Fortnite to release an anthem, 'Locked & Loaded,' earlier in September.

D4vd’s rise to fame was swift, with his 2021 track 'Runaway' marking the beginning of his success. He has shared that he often creates music in unconventional spaces, such as recording 'Romantic Homicide' in his sister’s closet using just an iPhone. His unique approach to music production, along with his success in the digital music scene, has earned him a dedicated following.

As the investigation continues, D4vd’s fans and the public await further details. Authorities have not made any formal connection between the artist and the body found in his car, but the situation remains under scrutiny.
