Stanley Tucci makes heartbreaking comment about wife of 13 years

Stanley Tucci has made a heartbreaking admission about his wife, Felicity Blunt. The couple have been married since 2012, after being introduced by her sister, Emily Blunt, at the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada.

Tucci, who lost his first wife to cancer in 2009, has previously spoken about the grief he carried into his second marriage, admitting he initially struggled with guilt. Still, he credits Blunt with bringing light back into his life.

Now, The Hunger Games star has made a devastating comment about his relationship with Blunt and what this means for their future.

Stanley Tucci's recent comments

The 64-year-old actor shared his thoughts in a new interview with The Times of London, where he admitted that while he doesn’t dwell on the 21-year age gap between him and his wife, he sometimes feels a quiet sadness knowing he may not grow old alongside his wife in the same way.

“I am sad that I won’t see her get old and that I won’t be able to look after her if she needs looking after,” Tucci reflected, noting the beauty of couples aging together. “And unless there’s some miracle, that can’t happen.”

How Stanley Tucci and Felicity Blunt met

Tucci and Felicity first crossed paths at the 2006 premiere of The Devil Wears Prada, where Tucci starred alongside Felicity’s sister, Emily Blunt. Their connection came full circle years later when they reconnected at Emily’s 2010 wedding to The Office actor John Krasinski.

By 2012, Tucci and Felicity were married in a private ceremony, beginning a new chapter that blended his life as a widower and father with the possibility of renewed love.

Tucci had previously been married to Kate Tucci, who died in 2009 following a battle with breast cancer, as per The Independent. Together, they shared three children. With Felicity, Tucci welcomed two more; son Matteo, born in 2015, and daughter Emilia, born in 2018.

Battling cancer

Just as the couple settled into family life, Tucci faced a major health scare. While Felicity was pregnant with their daughter Emilia, he was diagnosed with throat cancer.

“It was awful to go through it after my wife had died and friends had died,” Tucci recalled, describing how the experience tested them both. “The only thing I’m not happy about is how hard it was for Felicity, who was giving birth while I was getting treatment. And, of course, it was hard for the kids.”

After months of chemotherapy and radiation, Tucci recovered, and now says the experience gave him a renewed sense of purpose. “I’m more clear-headed than I was before. I have a stronger sense of self,” he explained. “There’s a lot I want to do before I’m 80.”

Health, fitness, and a passion for food

Since his recovery, Tucci has become devoted to staying active, working out five or six times a week. “Exercise just improves everything,” he said. “It makes it possible to do other things, including eating and drinking wine.”

Tucci’s deep appreciation for food and culture also continues to shape his career. Through his acclaimed travel and culinary series Searching for Italy and Tucci in Italy, he has explored the traditions and flavors that defined his upbringing.

“The great food that I grew up with and the conviviality, the gatherings (all that sort of stuff) I’m a believer in it,” he shared. “I’m passionate about exploring the things I love and bringing them to others in new ways.”
