Many people can only dream of getting trapped in a pub. But for 50 customers - including an Oasis tribute band - this dream became a reality when blizzards left them stranded at the Tan Hill Inn all weekend.
At 1,732ft above sea level, the 17th-century pub in Yorkshire is Britain's highest boozer. Many had traveled there on Friday night to watch Oasis tribute band Noasis perform when Storm Arwen hit and 5ft of snow swept in.
Yorkshire Mountain Rescue teams told staff at the pub nobody could leave due to the treacherous conditions, BBC News reports. The customers' cars were buried, nearby roads were blocked by the snow, and power lines were blown over by the 98mph storm.
After spending Friday night in makeshift beds and on sofas, the guests were informed they were in for the long hall. Some were able to leave on Sunday evening, but for the majority of the customers, it was impossible to go home until this morning when snowplows managed to clear the roads.
Speaking on ITV's This Morning, manager Nicola Townsend said: "All of our guests have just been wonderful, so we've been incredibly lucky. They've been very supportive, understanding and patient."
She described how they hosted quizzes, built snowmen, and played games to pass the time. Everyone chipped in on the washing up, tidying, and cooking - and Noases kept spirits up by taking out their guitars.
"Everyone's been joining in and singing along," Townsend said. "It has just been like a get-together with good friends, we have discussed having a reunion next year."
One guest, Martin Overton, told BBC Radio Leeds that the atmosphere was "very good" with "plenty of beer available".
"There's been instruments and games and in many ways it has been a unique and enjoyable weekend, but I think we are all ready to go home now," Overton said.
The pub shared a group snap of the stranded guests, saying: "We will ALWAYS remember this group of amazing people who came together, and hopefully, in challenging circumstances, enjoyed what we all think was a life-changing experience."
Meanwhile, Noasis apologized to audiences in Essex where they had been scheduled to perform on Saturday evening.
"We're very sorry to announce that we are stranded in Yorkshire, snowed in at the venue after last night's gig at The Tan Hill Inn," they wrote.
