A self-declared "time traveler" has taken to TikTok to claim that a huge meteor will strike the Earth in 2034, completely obliterating half of the United States.

The "time-defying" person - who goes by the TikTok handle @realtiktoktimetraveler - has garnered 221,500 followers by posting outlandish and downright depressing videos in which they claim that they are a time traveler from the year 2236. In their viral videos, they warn viewers about future catastrophic events.

The latest miserable revelation about half of America being wiped out was made in a video that has almost 40,000 likes and over 800,000 views.

"Attention! I am a real time traveller from the year 2236 and I have come to date in time to warn you about upcoming events in the next few years!!" the video begins, accompanied by a text overlay.

Several interesting claims are made, including the resurrection of a once-extinct 50-foot prehistoric shark called the Megalodon. "In 2022, a scientist will discover a way to bring back the megalodon through using its DNA and they create a real megalodon in 2023 and surprisingly nothing goes wrong," the text in the TikTok read.

The time traveler continued, adding: "In 2025, scientists discover signs of life on two different planets and they are proven to be more advanced than humans."

Finally, they make the revelation that has gotten the internet talking, writing: "A meteor will come down to Earth in 2034 and will wipe out half of America."

It's not even remotely surprising that users on the video platform took the opportunity to mock the video, with the top comment coming from one person who wrote: "But you missed this whole Russia-Ukraine thing eh?"

"Well fine, but tell me. IF you are really are a time traveller… WHEN DOES GTA 6 COME OUT??? HMMMMMMMMM," another comment read.

Another person referred to the popular conspiracy theory about how The Simpsons has made many predictions about the future that have actually come true with eery accuracy, adding: "if it didn't happen on The Simpsons I'm not buying it [sic]."

Many comments included those from concerned citizens requesting more information on which side of the USA would be wiped out: "BUT WHAT SIDE OF AMERICA [sic]."

Someone else quipped: "Can the meteor aim better and take us all out? Why is the meteor so biased?"

A further user even went as far as to add: "I heard that NASA is assembling a team of military personnel and offshore oil rig workers to destroy the meteor."
