President Trump has claimed that a 75-year-old pushed by Buffalo police could have faked his fall and described him as an "ANTIFA provocateur".

Taking to Twitter, the president wrote: "Buffalo protester shoved by Police could be an ANTIFA provocateur. 75 year old Martin Gugino was pushed away after appearing to scan police communications in order to black out the equipment. @OANN I watched, he fell harder than was pushed. Was aiming scanner. Could be a set up [sic]?"

Various unsettling images and videos of police brutality have flooded social media in recent weeks, but the video of police in Buffalo, N.Y. shoving Gugino, a 75-year-old activist at a Black Lives Matter stood out as being a particularly upsetting example.

In the footage, the 75-year-old can be seen being pushed by the police before stumbling, falling and cracking his head on the ground.

As the 75-year-old lies on the ground with blood pouring from his head, police pass him casually without offering any assistance.

Watch the footage of the 75-year-old being pushed by the police below:

WGRZ reported that he suffered a concussion and that as of Tuesday, June 9, he remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

While the two officers involved are facing criminal charges, according to CNBC, hundreds came to applaud them as they left the courthouse on Monday.

This comes as unrest continues to unfold across the US, as protests - some peaceful, some violent - are calling out the systemic injustices carried out against black people, not least seen by the recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor.

As well as a call for justice, these ongoing protests are also demanding an end to police brutality and the racism that is so deeply entrenched in America and the western world.
