Joe Biden appeared to confuse President Trump with George W. Bush on Sunday while emphasizing the election's importance "because [of] who I'm running against."

The Democratic nominee made the mistake at the virtual campaign event, "I Will Vote Concert", which featured a number of famous faces including John Legend, Dave Matthews, P!nk, and Cher.

"Not because I'm running, but because who I'm running against, this is the most consequential election in a long, long, long time," Biden said. "And the character of the country in my view is literally on the ballot. What kind of country we're gonna be? Four more years of George, ah, George... gonna find ourselves in a position where if Trump gets elected we're going to be in a different world."

Watch Biden make the apparent error below:

Republicans shared the footage of the mistake widely online, and it was posted to Twitter by the RNC Research account and GOP Rapid Response Director Steve Guest.

This is not the first time the current President has called into question Joe Biden's mental acuity. Recently, Trump appeared to suggest that the Democratic nominee had "dementia", after Biden appeared to forget Mitt Romney's name.

"Mitt can’t be thrilled about this! Joe also said yesterday he’s running for the U.S. Senate (again) and totally forgot where he was (wrong State!).

"Joe has never been a nice or kind guy, so it’s easier to find this obvious & rapidly getting worse 'dementia' unacceptable for USA!"  Trump wrote.

Trump then took to Twitter today to reference the latest verbal slip-up.

He wrote: "Joe Biden called me George yesterday. Couldn't remember my name. Got some help from the anchor to get him through the interview. The Fake News Cartel is working overtime to cover it up!"

However, Biden, 77, is not alone in facing questions over his fitness to stand for office.

When President Trump, 74, was hospitalized after testing positive for Covid-19, his representatives were accused of not being transparent about his condition after he was taken to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for treatment.

However, while Biden's fitness to stand has been questioned, when Lara Trump appeared to mock his stutter, she was slammed by Jake Tapper.

In the video below, Lara is called out by Jake Tapper for mocking Biden's stutter:

Referring to this comment, Jake Tapper asked: "How do you think it makes little kids with stutters feel when they see you make a comment like that?"

Trump replied: "First and foremost, I had no idea that Joe Biden ever suffered from a stutter. I think what we see on stage with Joe Biden is very clearly a cognitive decline."
