UK Prime Minister has tweeted out six updated coronavirus rules ahead of his long-awaited lockdown speech later this evening.
In the tweet, Johnson writes: "Everyone has a role to play in helping to control the virus by staying alert and following the rules.
"This is how we can continue to save lives as we start to recover from coronavirus."
The prime minister accompanied the post with the new #StayAlert hashtag.
The PM then shared an image detailing the six guidelines. They are:
- Stay at home as much as possible
- Work from home if you can
- Limit contact with other people
- Keep your distance if you go out (2 metres apart where possible)
- Wash your hands regularly
- If you or anyone in your household has symptoms, you all need to self-isolate
The government's new advice appears to be relaxing the previous stricter rules laid out back in March. This previous guidance forbid contact with others, as Johnson stated that the "only reasons to leave home" were;
