Ever since we had the royal wedding earlier this year, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle finally got hitched, now even more people are taking a deep interest in the British royal family. Yes, even across the pond in America, where colonists once fought a revolutionary war to rid themselves of autocratic interference, the public have come down with a serious case of royal family fever, and it feels like everyone is desperate for more info about them.
Which is a good thing for them, because the royals are arguably under more media scrutiny than ever before: especially Kate Middleton and Prince William's young children. Luckily for them, thanks to their parents good looks, the royal kids are all as cute as can be, as this latest picture of young Prince George proves.
To celebrate the fifth birthday of young George, Kensington Palace released an adorable picture of the young prince, who was dressed very smartly (as ever) to their Twitter feed on his special day. The picture was captioned: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share a new photograph of Prince George to mark his fifth birthday – thank you everyone for your lovely messages." Awwww!
Little George was photographed in the garden of Clarence House by photographer, Matt Porteous; who has also taken private pictures for Kate and Will during the christening of George's two-month-old baby brother Louis earlier this month. Will and Kate released official portraits for every one of George’s birthdays.
For his first birthday they shared a few photos of the baby heir to the throne at the butterfly exhibit in London’s Natural History Museum. On his second birthday the palace shared a picture taken by Mario Testino on the day of Princess Charlotte’s christening. And on the third and fourth, they shared a picture of the child playing on a swing and another of him grinning toothily.
The last time pictures were made public of the royal children was during Prince Louis' christening, which took place at the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace and were taken by celebrity photographer Matt Holyoak following the baptism.
Notably absent the pictures were Queen Elizabeth herself and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. The queen apparently made the decision not to attend the christening, since she was already busy attending an event to marking the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force, before having a meeting scheduled with President Donald Trump, who was visiting the United Kingdom.
But Prince William, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, as well as Kate's sister Pippa and brother James all appeared in photos of the event. I think we should all wish the little prince a big happy birthday on his special day. I hope he has lots of cake!
