Prince Charles has been accused of snubbing daughter-in-law Meghan Markle after sharing a post celebrating Archie's second birthday.
Archie - the son of Markle and Prince Harry - turned two years old on May 6, leading to many people - including members of the Royal Family - wishing the toddler a happy birthday on social media.
Among these was a post shared to the official Twitter account for The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, which read: "Happy birthday to Archie, who turns two today."
The post included a black and white picture taken by photographer Chris Allerton, showing Prince Charles alongside his son, Prince Harry, who was cradling a baby Archie.
However, some unimpressed Twitter users were quick to point out that Archie's mom, the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, had been left out of the post.
One critic of the post asked: "Lovely picture, but where is Meghan on the picture?"
A second replied: "Why would you not call him your grandson and why cut his mother off. You have made a lot of mistakes yourself or have you forgotten that. This is not helping at all."
"Very sad [to] leave out the mother of his grandchild. Given the current tensions, that feels like a petty snub. Not classy," a third wrote.
Markle's absence was perhaps more apparent after a 'happy birthday' post shared on the official Twitter account of the Queen included a picture of both Meghan and Harry with a baby Archie:
However, many Twitter users were also quick to defend the post shared on the Prince of Wales' Twitter page, with several pointing out that the picture used is simply a "generational" photo, showing grandfather, son, and grandson.
One person said: "Such a nice picture of 3 generations! You know, like many, many families have without feeling as though the other parent was being snubbed..."
This was echoed by a second Twitter user, who wrote: "What a wonderful classic 3 generations shot. Every photo shoot includes one of these. How shameful to see it as a snub. You see what you want to see. This photo is beautiful."
And a third simply wrote: "This is a nice “generational” picture. Grandad. Dad. Son. Happy birthday Archie!!"
