Alex Murdaugh has debuted a drastic new look in prison after a 12-person jury found him guilty of the murders of his wife and son.

On Thursday (March 2), the former attorney was convicted of the deaths of his 51-year-old wife Maggie Murdaugh and 22-year-old son Paul Murdaugh. Both Maggie and Paul were found dead on the grounds of the family's 1,700-acre Moselle hunting estate in Islandton, South Carolina, back in June 2021.

Prosecutors argued that the father killed his wife and son in an attempt to deflect any attention away from alleged financial crimes.

Despite Alex Murdaugh repeatedly denying ever harming his wife and son, one juror has since revealed that it took the jury just 45 minutes to reach the guilty verdict, per the New York Post.

The six-week trial - which involved testimonies from more than 70 witnesses - finally ended when 54-year-old Murdaugh was found guilty of the two murders and related weapons charges, with Judge Clifton Newman handing him two life sentences on Friday morning.

The televised trial gripped much of the nation as it unfolded, with Murdaugh looking somewhat stoic as he learned his fate - with Judge Newman telling the disgraced lawyer: "I know you have to see Paul and Maggie during the nighttime when you're attempting to go to sleep. I'm sure they come and visit you, I'm sure."

During the sentencing, Murdaugh would again proclaim his innocence.

After receiving his sentence, Murdaugh was transported and booked into South Carolina's Kirkland Reception and Evaluation Center.

Per Fox News, the Columbia facility is a maximum-security, level-three prison - and Murdaugh will be detained in a single cell for 45 days before his next location is decided.

And in a new mugshot taken on Friday, Murdaugh debuted a shaved head as he posed for the camera while wearing a yellow inmate uniform. A spokesperson for the South Carolina Department of Corrections told WLTX that it is standard procedure for inmates to receive a haircut upon arrival.

The Post reports that Murdaugh will also have to go through a series of tests to evaluate his physical and mental health. An educational assessment will also take place.

Additional reports now claim that Murdaugh could face an additional "700 years" in prison for additional crimes he allegedly admitted to throughout his trial. More here...
