A bride has been widely criticized on Reddit after posting a photo standing next to a "Brides Lives Matter" sign.

Posting on the website’s Wedding Shaming subreddit, Reddit user @u/funnygal1224 shared a photo of a white woman wearing a wedding dress and posing under an outdoor tent which had the sign “Brides Lives Matter” written on black and white love hearts.

The sign is a reference to the Black Lives Matter movement against police brutality, which has been reignited in recent weeks following the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and Rayshard Brooks, amongst others.

The picture was roundly condemned on the social media platform, with one commentator writing: "I think this very well may be the worst thing I’ve ever seen on this sub."

"This can’t be for real. How could anyone, anywhere, possibly think that this was in any way, shape or form appropriate???? [sic]” another wrote.

Others denounced the set up as "tone-deaf" and "extremely self-centered", with one Reddit user adding, "Way to read the room. Not like anyone could possibly perceive this as offensive right now."

"I’m hoping it’s just photoshopped....... right? That’s the most reasonable explanation??" commented a fourth.

Floyd, a black man, was arrested by Minneapolis police on Monday, May 25, for reportedly using a counterfeit $20 note in a store. While being detained, ex-cop Derek Chauvin - a 19-year veteran of the force - knelt on his neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds.

Chauvin faces charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter, while the three other arresting officers have been charged with aiding and abetting murder.
