Car crashes into White House gate, Secret Service investigating
The Secret Service is currently investigating after a vehicle crashed into a barricade near the White House early Wednesday (March 10) morning.
According to CBS News, the crash took place just before 7AM at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and H Street Northwest.
Secret Service agents swiftly detained the driver, who has not been publicly identified and is now being questioned.
Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service, said they were "looking into a suspicious vehicle," adding: "We will provide additional information once we get updated from officers later this morning."
No injuries have been reported, per a spokesperson for the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, which is assisting in the investigation.
Authorities have cordoned off streets to secure the area, with police tape, Secret Service agents, Metropolitan police officers, and National Guard members blocking off roads to ensure public safety.
