Rumors have continued to swirl about who Donald Trump will hire to replace White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Leavitt stepped down from her role in government in August this year, following the birth of her second child.
Trump had announced the news on Truth Social, before she took to X with her own announcement, writing: "The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary."
She called it a 'bittersweet decision' and said the past year and a half had been the experience of a lifetime.
While Trump has been pictured several times with executive assistant Natalie Harp, who has been rumored to take over Leavitt's role, it has remained vacant - though a former Disney star could be poised to replace her.
It's been reported that Trump is in no rush to replace Leavitt, despite the likes of CNN pundit Scott Jennings, the acting US Attorney of the District of New Jersey Alina Habba, and ex-Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo being linked with the position.
Some other names are already in Trump's cabinet, such as White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly and senior Trump campaign adviser Danielle Alvarez.
Another name is Caroline Sunshine, a former first-term staffer and a former 2024 Trump campaign aide who regularly appears on CNN and Fox to talk politics.
The Disney Channel child actress starred alongside Zendaya before making the leap to politics.
Having started out as an intern for Kevin McCarthy, she was in the first Trump White House in 2018 before being hired as an assistant in the press office.
The 31-year-old has become a recognizable figure on TV, having defended Trump on several occasions, even posting on X about his policy victories and comedic timing.
A source told the Daily Mail: "They are auditioning, but the president has not expressed real interest in either of them," adding that it's 'apparent to everyone in the White House.'
One Trump advisor advised him not to select Sunshine, suggesting that she was 'disloyal' to Trump in the past.
An example was when she openly criticized the US-Israel strikes in Iran back in 2025, after which she wrote on X: "I don’t agree with President Trump’s decision tonight."
The former child star told the publicaiton in a statement: "White House officials are spending their days tracking my TV hits, tweets, and hairstyles?
"Perhaps if the White House was 100 percent focused on correcting the fake news about the President, he'd be getting better press. Get back to work."
