New details emerge from the sheriff’s office
According to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call that day about a “male subject with a knife acting erratically," TMZ reported.
They said Duarte approached one of the deputies in a threatening manner, while paramedics were already on the scene. “After multiple verbal commands were given for Duarte to get on the ground by the deputy, Duarte charged toward the deputy while yelling, ‘I’m going to kill you,’” the office stated.
The deputy then discharged her firearm, striking Duarte with two rounds.
He was given medical aid at the scene before being transported to University Hospital in San Antonio, where he was pronounced dead.
