Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite and long-time friend of the late Jeffrey Epstein, has been arrested by the FBI, Sky News reports.

Maxwell has kept a low profile since Epstein's death in August of last year. However, it was revealed today that she was arrested at 8:30AM in Bedford, New Hampshire, on Thursday (July 2) on charges related to the multimillionaire financier.

Per NBC New York, the six-count indictment in Manhattan federal court alleges that Maxwell helped Epstein groom girls as young as 14 years old, dating back as far as 1994.

"In some instances, Maxwell was present for and participated in the sexual abuse of minor victims," the indictment says.

Epstein reportedly committed suicide back in August while being held without bail pending his trial on federal child sex-trafficking charges.

The body of 66-year-old Epstein was found unresponsive in his cell in the Special Housing Unit of Manhattan Correctional Center in Lower Manhattan.

Per the New York Post, in a 2015 defamation suit, Virginia Roberts Giuffre - one of Epstein's most vocal victims -  had accused Maxwell of recruiting her as a teenager. That case has since been settled.

Other alleged victims of Epstein have also accused Maxwell of "luring them into his circle", where they were reportedly sexually abused by Epstein and his high-profile friends.

Maxwell has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, labeling the accusations against her as "absolute rubbish".

Ghislaine is the daughter of media baron Robert Maxwell, and was a one-time girlfriend of Epstein.
