Donald Trump's defiant pose with a raised fist while bleeding from his ear has etched itself into American history, according to many online commenters.

The pose, captured by photographers including Anna Money for the Associated Press, shows Trump defiantly gesturing as the Secret Service swiftly intervenes around him.

While his exact words are unclear, it appears he shouted "Fight! Fight! Fight!" in a moment that encapsulates resilience and defiance.

Commenting on the photo, British TV personality wrote on X: "Already one of the most iconic photographs in American history - and one that I suspect will propel Donald Trump back to the White House."

Also taking to Instagram, the former Good Morning Britain presenter penned: Just woke up to the horrifying news that President Trump was nearly assassinated. A shocking, terrible assault on American democracy.

"Also a shocking failure by the Secret Service. Trump showed astounding courage after being shot - but how did this shooter get so close to him at a rally, how did he get so many shots off, and why did the SS not get him straight off stage?

"So many questions. I wish Donald Trump a full speedy recovery.

Many have been saying already that this photograph is poised to join the ranks of historic images that define eras.

It evokes parallels to iconic moments such as Muhammad Ali's victorious stance over Sonny Liston in 1965 and Tommie Smith and John Carlos' Black Power salute at the 1968 Olympics.

These images, along with Neil Armstrong's moonwalk, the Times Square kiss, D-Day landings, and RFK's funeral train, resonate as pivotal moments in American history.

The attempted assassination, nearly fatal for the former president, has thrust Trump into a position that could profoundly influence the trajectory of the 2024 election.

Despite recent setbacks for the Democratic Party, the stark contrast of Trump's unyielding response may well solidify his bid for a return to the White House, a feat achieved only once before in American history.

This event, charged with significance, has the potential to be a watershed moment in American political history, potentially altering the course of the nation's future.
