A photo has emerged on social media showing Joe and Jill Biden dwarfing Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter.
The picture was first shared by the official Twitter account of The Carter Foundation, a non-profit organization established by Jimmy Carter in the wake of his administration as President of the United States.

A spokesperson for the foundation captioned the image:
"We're pleased to share this wonderful photo from the @POTUS and @FLOTUS visit to see the Carters in Plains, Ga.! Thank you President and Mrs. Biden! [sic]"
But it wasn't long before a number of Twitter users were left bemused by the image, which appeared to show a kneeling Joe and Jill towering over the oddly diminutive-looking Carters.
One social media user wrote: "Dude what is with the size difference between these people what the hell is going on here?"
Another person tweeted: "Not sure who photoshopped this photo but they did a horrible job."
Meanwhile, a third Twitter user asked: "Hello, Carter Center, Why do Flotus and Potus look gigantic next to the Carters, it is a nice photo, but it looks very bizarre, how did that happen?"
A fourth added: "Why do The Carter’s look like miniatures?! They are amazing wonderful people [...] The proportions here are off somehow. Who else agrees?! [sic]"
One Twitter user then tried to use photoshop to enlarge the Carters, to make them match the proportions of the Bidens in the shot. "There. I fixed it," they wrote.
For the record, no, Joe and are not gigantic, and Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter are of average stature. Joe Biden is 6 foot tall, Jill Biden is 5"6, Jimmy Carter is 5"10, while Rosalynn Carter is 5"5.
Since the image became viral online, social media users believe the photographer used a strong flash and a wide-angle lens to capture the group in a tight space; inadvertently creating an optical illusion in the process.
