Kentucky woman, 31, charged with incest and sodomy involving child under 12 as she faces life behind bars
A woman in Kentucky has been arrested over allegations of incest and sexual abuse involving a child under the age of 12, according to recent court documents.
Lauren Winans, from Bardstown, was taken into custody on Thursday after a grand jury in Nelson County returned an indictment against her just the day before.
What do the charges allege?
The charges relate to alleged offences said to have taken place between January 1 and November 20, 2022, involving a victim younger than 12, with the indictment alleging that Winans “committed the offense of sodomy in the first degree by engaging in deviate sexual intercourse with C.G.W., a person less than twelve years of age”.
She is also accused of incest, with the indictment claiming that Winans “committed the offense of incest when she had sexual intercourse or deviate sexual intercourse with a person whom she knew to be an ancestor who was less than twelve years of age.”
It remains unclear whether the alleged incest offense involved the same child mentioned in the other charges against Winans, with court documents not specifying how the alleged victim or victims are related to her.
Winans is being held on $250,000 bail, which she had not paid as of the latest update, Nelson County Jailer Justin Hall confirmed to The Post.
If convicted of the most serious charge, first-degree sodomy, she could potentially face up to life in prison.
Winans is scheduled to be arraigned on November 5, with it remaining unclear whether she has sought legal advice yet.
Offenses share similarities with Alexis Von Yates
This comes after Florida dad, David Yates, walked in on his 34-year-old wife, Alexis, having sex with their 15-year-old son, with the entire incident caught on audio.
According to police reports, Yates’ teenage son had admitted that his stepmother had been sexually frustrated, and had claimed that “she had not had sex in two weeks and she was on her period”, before they began to have sex.
David also claims that Alexis had likened his son to him when he was younger, with him being three years below the age of consent.
It was also alleged that the child victim didn’t want to stop after they began kissing and engaging in oral sex, but the boy dismissed this claim, revealing to his father that she was moaning and telling him to keep going.
In that instance, she was given two years in state prison, followed by a further two years of community control and 10 years of probation as a registered sex offender.
Unlike Alexis, the allegations against Winans are yet to be proven in court, with investigations ongoing.
